One of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Romania’s richest culture, art and spiritual region both lie in the North-Eastern part of the country. Explore Bucovina with us and you spend 7 full days, gazing in awe at painted churches, at beautiful, serene scenery or at how people still keep centuries old traditions alive.
Deemed as masterpieces of Byzantine art, the 8 churches in Bucovina are one-of-a-kind architectural sites in Europe. The purpose of the frescoes was to make the story of the Bible and the lives of the most important saints known to the villagers, by use of images.
This tour offers a glimpse into the traditions and history of Moldavia, one of the three historical regions of Romania and all throughout the 7 days, you will be taken through this breath-taking countryside.
On the road you’ll have the opportunity to taste our local Panciu champagne, to pay your respect to Santa Barbara Chapel located in Cacica salt mine, to admire the amazing Bicaz Gorges and the Red Lake and last but not least, the magnificent 8 churches painted 500 years ago.
The Red Lake is a natural storage dam lake and is situated at the foot of Hasmasu Mare Mountains, somewhere near the town Gheorgheni. It is the largest natural mountain lake in Romania. The road that slices through Bicaz Gorges is among Romania’s most staggering and spectacular ones. The gorge twists and turns steeply uphill for three miles, cutting through sheer 1,000-foot limestone cliffs on its journey through the mountains.
Throughout this journey and at the sites in Bucovina, a private minibus will be at our disposal and a guide will also be readily available to attend to your needs, at each corner.
Besides engaging in the guided tours, creating many Instagram moments and connecting to the spiritual richness of the monasteries, you’ll also have the change of doing something different in various workshops: find out how to paint an egg, learn how to ride a horse or how to cook a specific Romanian traditional dish or how to make pottery.
During these exiting 7 days, you’ll be able to visit Romanian villages, interact with locals, dive deep into the history and spirituality of the region, relish on hearty honest traditional foods and enjoy the Romanian culture at its best!
