When Bucharest people need a fresh escape, they either go to relish at the royal castles or they go on Dracula’s trail, enjoying his castle’s pastoral region with breath-taking landscapes. Well, with our castles day trip, you can do both!
Nestled at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains in the picturesque town of Sinaia, at just 2h drive from Bucharest, Peleș Castle is a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture. Our local guide will tell you all about the castle’s rooms adorned with the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, German stained-glass windows and Cordoba leather-covered walls. The Peleș domain is the official summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family who has kindly agreed to keep it open to visitors.
En-route to our next destination, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant.
After just one-hour drive, we’ll see perched high atop a 200-foot-high rock, Bran Castle, surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend, imposing towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stocker’s Dracula. A local guide will tell us the story, while we discover secret passages, large terraces and the perfect spot for Instagram photos in search of the Count.
We’ll enjoy plenty of time here to explore and relax in the fresh air of the green countryside and medieval sights as the castle has been first documented in the late 1300s.
Known for their unbelievable share of history, the impressive surrounding nature and parks, and the laidback small-town atmosphere of Sinaia and Bran villages, Royals and Counts Tour is the perfect day trip.
